A bad bite/Jaw Position is not permanent, and surgery is not your only fix.

FACE Dentistry corrects an overbite, underbite, or deep bite in Beverly Hills without surgery. Dr. Joseph Goodman has practiced for 27 years on Beverly Drive, serving three generations of local families. He uses no-prep Class 1 Veneers to reposition your jaw and bite, not just to change how your teeth look.

Traditional veneers enhance your smile. FACE Dentistry goes further and realigns your jaw into a harmonious TMJ position, transforming your jawline and chin. The result is a beautiful smile, an elevated chin, and potential relief from migraines, jaw pain, and tension.

His method rests on one honest idea: you should feel your new bite before you commit to it. Dr. Goodman tests the position first, then secures it. If your case truly needs braces or surgery, he tells you plainly.

What is FACE Dentistry?

FACE Dentistry is Dr. Goodman’s name for non-surgical bite correction. It uses no-prep Class 1 Veneers to reposition your lower jaw and hold it in a better, more balanced position. The goal is a healthier bite, a more comfortable jaw, and for suitable cases, a stronger profile. It works without braces, surgery, or shaving healthy teeth. Because the jaw moves into a new position, not only the teeth, the change shows in your bite and your face. It suits many overbite, underbite, and deep bite cases where the jaw can be repositioned and held. You test the new position first, then secure it.

The approach grew out of decades of reconstructive work. Dr. Goodman trained in Germany and the United States, and holds both a DDS and a DMD. His background in prosthodontics covers full-mouth occlusion, centric relation, and the TMJ. That foundation lets him correct bites that other dentists send straight to surgery. Courts have also appointed him as a dental expert witness. He studies your bite carefully before he recommends anything, and tells you honestly when another option fits better.

What Are the Three Phases of FACE Dentistry?

FACE Dentistry works in three phases. First, a TMJ tracking phase locates your ideal, pain-free jaw position. Next, a temporary phase lets you preview and approve your new look. Last, no-prep Class 1 Veneers, secure the bite for good. Most cases finish in about two weeks.

Phase 1: TMJ Tracking: On your first visit, Dr. Goodman fits a removable Bitetrac appliance. It locates your optimal, pain-free jaw position. You wear it and judge both your comfort and your new facial look. Nothing is permanent, so you stay in control the whole time.

Phase 2: The Temporary Preview: Once your ideal jaw position and new look are set, Dr. Goodman makes a set of temporaries. You preview and approve the result before anything becomes final. This step lets you see your new face before you commit to it.

Phase 3: Class 1 Veneers: Last, Dr. Goodman places individual no-prep Class 1 Veneers. They shift your bite from a Class 2, Class 3, or deep bite into an ideal Class 1. In most cases, this happens without grinding down healthy tooth enamel.

Three phases, no surgery, and no braces.

How Face Dentistry Builds on Everything Else

Great dentistry works in layers. Each layer rests on the one below it, and skipping a layer weakens the whole result.

General dentistry is the foundation. It keeps your teeth and gums healthy and strong.
Cosmetic dentistry is the next level up. You earn it only after the foundation is solid.
Face Dentistry sits at the top. It builds on both, using your bite and your teeth to shape your whole face.

Most dentists stop at one layer. Dr. Goodman works through all three, which lets him fix the bite, the smile, and the profile together. You get a result that holds, because every layer beneath it is already sound.

What Bite Problems Can FACE Dentistry Help With?

FACE Dentistry helps bites where the jaw can be repositioned and secured, rather than severe skeletal cases. It works best for mild to moderate cases in adults. It can ease a deep bite, a worn bite, or an uneven bite. For some patients, it improves a recessed chin or flat profile. A full exam confirms whether it fits your case.

  •       A deep bite where upper teeth cover the lower too far.
  •       A worn bite from years of grinding or aging.
  •       An uneven bite that makes teeth meet poorly.
  •       A bite that leaves the chin looking small or set back.
  •       Front teeth that sit too far forward, in mild cases.

These cases share one thing in common. The jaw can be repositioned to a better place and held there. Dr. Goodman uses scans and records to check. He tells you honestly if your case is a fit.

What Makes a Smile Look Balanced?

A balanced smile follows the natural proportions of the face. The face divides into equal thirds from top to bottom, and into fifths across. When the teeth, lips, and jaw sit within those proportions, the smile looks right without anyone knowing why. Dr. Goodman designs every case to fit the face, not just the teeth.

Open Bite Closed Without Shaving Teeth

An open bite is when the back teeth are touching and the front teeth are not. This can result from thumb sucking as a child or pacifier use as a baby. It can be corrected by restoring the teeth with Class 1 Veneers, achieving the correct shape and size without shaving the teeth in this case.

Class 3 Crossbite Corrected

This patient has a unique bite, called Class 3. A class 3 bite is when your lower teeth are overlapping the upper teeth, thus making the top teeth almost invisible. They are of course there, but they are hidden behind the upper teeth. It also gives a “mean look,” even though patients with class 3 are usually the nicest patients. A TMJ track placed the jaw into the new position and we established a new bite with Class 1 Veneers. Results may vary depending on the jaw and bite. This case came out particularly nice. Not every case will look the same but a significant improvement will be certain.

How Does FACE Dentistry Correct Your Bite Without Surgery?

Dr. Goodman corrects your bite in careful, reversible steps. He starts by analyzing your bite, jaw position, and teeth. Then he fits a removable Bitetrac appliance to test a new position. You wear it until the new bite feels right. Only then does he place no-prep Class 1 Veneers to hold it.

Dr. Goodman handles overbite correction without surgery and underbite correction without surgery. Non-surgical jaw movement repositions the bite with no braces and no shaving of healthy teeth. You test the new position first, then secure it.

You stay in control at every step. Nothing permanent happens until you approve the new bite. There is no shaving of your healthy teeth. If the test bite does not suit you, you have lost nothing. No jaw surgery, no healing time, and no years of braces afterward. You leave with a stable bite and a better profile.

Can Veneers Fix an Overbite or Underbite?

In many cases, yes. When your jaw can be repositioned to a better spot, no-prep Class 1 Veneers move your bite there and hold it. Veneers do not move bone surgically, so a severe skeletal discrepancy still needs braces or surgery. Dr. Goodman checks which case you have before he treats, and an honest no protects your healthy teeth and your money.

Standard veneers only cover the front surface of a tooth, so they mostly mask a mild overbite. Dr. Goodman’s Class 1 Veneers work differently, because they reposition your jaw and set a new bite, then hold it. He confirms your case with scans, photos, and bite records first. If veneers will not correct your bite, he says so and refers you.

How Class 1 Veneers Move Your Bite Into Place

You may be able to correct your bite with a technique that moves your lower jaw into the right position. Dr. Goodman does this with no-prep Class 1 Veneers.

First, he uses a removable appliance called Bitetrac to test your new bite. You wear it and feel the new position for as long as you want. Nothing is permanent yet.

Once the bite feels right, he places no-prep Class 1 Veneers to hold it. This puts your teeth, jaw, and bite in the correct position. Many patients say the result improves the whole face, like a facelift without surgery.

Can You Fix an Overbite Without Braces?

Often, yes, when the overbite comes from jaw position. Dr. Goodman first fits a removable Bitetrac appliance to test a new bite position. You wear it until the new bite feels right. Then he places no-prep Class 1 Veneers that hold the position. Most cases finish in about two weeks, with no braces, no shaving, and no years of retainers.

When your jaw can be repositioned, the answer is often yes. The correction comes from moving your jaw into a better position and securing it with veneers, not from years of braces. Severe skeletal overbites are different. When the jawbone sits far out of position, braces or surgery come first, and he refers those cases. If a treatment will not work, he tells you before you spend the money.

Frequently Asked Questions

What disqualifies you for FACE Dentistry?

A few things. Active gum disease or decay must be treated first. A purely skeletal bite, where the jawbone sits far out of position, needs braces or surgery, not veneers. Heavy grinding can also rule out a no-prep plan until it is managed. The ADA notes that a deep overbite or grinding can make ordinary veneers a poor choice. Dr. Goodman checks all of this with scans and records. He tells you honestly if you are not a fit.

Am I too old for bite correction with veneers?

Usually not. Adults are the typical FACE Dentistry patient, because jaw growth is finished and the bite is stable. There is no upper age limit when your teeth and gums are healthy. The Cleveland Clinic notes that an untreated overbite can worsen and wear your teeth over time. Waiting rarely helps. Dr. Goodman has corrected bites for healthy patients well into their later years. A full exam, not your age, decides whether the method fits.

How long do Class 1 Veneers last?

With good care, 15 years or longer. Dr. Goodman has placed porcelain veneers for 27 years. Well-made veneers at his office routinely last 15 years and beyond. Because FACE Dentistry changes the bite, a case covers at least one full arch, 14 upper or 14 lower. The veneers are built to hold your new jaw position. Because they are no-prep, your natural teeth stay intact underneath. You protect them like natural teeth, with brushing, flossing, and regular checkups. If one ever chips or wears, he can repair or replace it.

Will FACE Dentistry change my chin or profile?

It can, when your small chin comes from the bite. When the lower jaw sits too far back, the chin looks small and the profile flattens. Setting the bite forward with no-prep Class 1 Veneers can bring the chin into a stronger position. This is a dental change, not a chin implant or filler. The Cleveland Clinic notes that chin fillers add temporary volume and fade over time. A corrected bite holds. Dr. Goodman shows you the change with Bitetrac first.

Can Class 1 Veneers fix a crossbite or deep bite?

Yes, in many cases. A deep bite is when the upper teeth cover the lower too far, and it responds well to Class 1 Veneers that rebuild the bite. Crossbites are among the more straightforward bites Dr. Goodman corrects. FACE Dentistry works by moving the jaw, condyle, and chin together, a skeletal change, not by moving teeth one at a time. He confirms your case with scans first, then plans the correction. A poor bite can strain the jaw joint, which the Cleveland Clinic links to pain and clicking.

How much does FACE Dentistry cost, and does insurance cover it?

The cost depends on how many veneers your bite needs, so Dr. Goodman gives you an exact figure after your exam. A full case is often 20 veneers across both arches, and a smaller case costs less. He never quotes a price before he sees your bite, because that would be a guess. Insurance treats veneers as cosmetic, so most plans do not cover them. Some help when the work is medically necessary, so ask at your consultation.
